Organize around the next thing you do.
A practical kitchen is a sequence of tasks.
Start with one daily task
Choose coffee, breakfast or preparing lunch. Place its ordinary tools near where the task happens, safely away from heat and water as appropriate.
Measure the opening too
Record shelf depth, height and the usable opening. Check how a container comes out when neighboring items are in place.
Do not decant away safety
Keep labels, instructions and expiry information where needed. Do not use decorative containers for unsafe or ambiguous storage.
Shop only for the gap
A container should solve a measured problem. Check cleaning, food-contact suitability where relevant, and whether heavy items remain safe to lift.
