Gather related items before deciding how much storage they need. Keep household permission and actual routines in mind.

Return what belongs elsewhere

A bin should not become the permanent home for things that have no reason to be in the room.

Test the reset

Use a temporary container for a week. If it is awkward to put things away, simplify the action or move the location.

Compare useful dimensions

Record inside capacity, outside footprint and opening clearance. Check weight limits, stability and cleaning instructions. The prettiest bin is not automatically the best fit.
